Mostar: Entry of Herzegovinian Honey into the worldwide register of protected appellations of origin promoted

 

Mostar, November 12, 2018 - Entry of Herzegovinian Honey into the worldwide WIPO register of protected appellations of origin in Geneva was promoted within the International Beekeeping Fair "4th Days of Herzegovinian honey, Mostar-2018 ", held on Saturday. November,10 in the Croatian Lodge “Herceg Stjepan Kosača” in Mostar.

On this occasion, director of the Institute for Intellectual Property of BiH Josip Merdžo handed a certificate of entry into the register of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva (WIPO) to Boras Kvesić , president of the Association of Beekeepers of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC). In his address, Merdžo referred to the historical aspect of the marking of goods and services, and emphasized the importance of entering in the World Organization’s register as a contribution to the strengthening of intellectual property in the BiH economy.

Relevant lectures were held during the fair. Expert lectures were held by Miroslav Marić (Institute for Intellectual Property of BiH) under the title "Legal regulation of an indication", Prof. Dario Frangen - "Diversification of beekeeping production", Dr. Sc. Saša Prđun - "Importance of pollen in bee nutrition", Doc. Dr. Sc. Dražen Lušić - "Institutional protection of quality, safety and class of beekeeping products" and Prof. Dr. Sc. Dragan Bubalo - "Botanical origin of honey".

The fourth Days of honey were organized by the Association of Beekeepers "Matica" Mostar in cooperation with the Agronomy and Food Technology Faculty of the University of Mostar and the Association of Beekeepers of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.
