Front Office application available to users from September 22, 2026

The Front Office application for Bosnia and Herzegovina is in the final stage of preparation. The launch of the application is scheduled for September 22, 2026.

Front Office is a modern web application that will enable electronic submission and monitoring of proceedings in the field of intellectual property. Users will be able to prepare, electronically sign, submit and track their requests through a single application, including national patent applications, European patent applications, European patent validations and subsequent procedures.

Access to the application with a qualified electronic signature

A valid qualified electronic signature will be required to access and use the Front Office application. An electronic signature allows for secure user identification and electronic signature of submissions submitted through the application.

Natural persons who independently submit applications and other submissions through the Front Office application should have their own qualified electronic signature.

Legal entities can use the Front Office through their authorized representatives. In this case, a qualified electronic signature should be held by a natural person authorized to act on behalf of a legal person, whereby the relationship and authorization between the legal person and the authorized natural person are regulated with the qualified electronic signature service provider.

Where to get a qualified electronic signature?

A qualified electronic signature in Bosnia and Herzegovina can be obtained from authorized issuers of electronic signatures, including IDDEEA BiH, the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH (ITA BiH), Halcom Ltd. and JP BH Pošta Ltd. Sarajevo.

We recommend that users who do not yet have a qualified electronic signature start the process of obtaining it in a timely manner so that they can use the functionalities of the Front Office application without any problems after launching.

Users will be informed in a timely manner about the method of registration and access, as well as other technical conditions, via the Institute's website.

With the launch of the Front Office application, Bosnia and Herzegovina will take a significant step in further digitizing procedures in the field of intellectual property, enabling users to submit applications electronically in a simpler, faster and more secure way.
